Values Driven Company

Pros

KBS shares the same core culture and values as all other Koch companies. Koch has demonstrated a long term commitment to its winning culture, which is not defined by slogans or swayed by popular trends. It is rewarding to work for a Koch company that operates in support of an organization that consistently outperforms the market and continues to grow despite weak economic conditions. While some companies may work their employees to death during periods of rapid growth, KBS maintains an environment where work-life balance can be achieved. For example, there is recognition that assigning a significant project workload to employees consumed by critical operational responsibilities is a flawed. Koch growth has provided me with more growth opportunity than I could have imagined. Market competitive pay and benefits make it all about job fulfillment.

Cons

Large IT environments, including Koch, commonly have employees with narrow, albeit deep, skills. This can lead to individuals or teams being reluctant to operating outside of their defined boundaries when it is necessary. It can also be challenging for an organization of this size and scale to be in sync down to the individual level.

Pros

Its been almost 3 years for me and I'm still as energized to get to work today as I was on day 1. Nearly everyone that I have worked with has been helpful and receptive to my questions and ideas. On a daily basis we are challenged to seek improvements to our processes. Never compromising ethics or compliance with the law to achieve the end result. The culture here is focused on our Guiding Principles; Integrity, Compliance, Value Creation and Humility to name just a few. These principles are not just slogans or wall art, they are the very foundation which everything is built on. The most impressive "pro" for me would be all levels of the KBS management team. From the company president, CFO or board members to the supervisors that are in the trenches, its evident that each of them are committed to ensuring a positive and collaborative environment. My team leader has been proactive in several team building activities to ensure we function as a team.

Cons

I have to think about the "cons" as i have not had many negative moments since I started. The one con that comes to mind would be the consistent extra time that is necessary to ensure projects or activities are completed to meet time frames. However, as I have gained more experience, I realize that I can help this through improved focus on the right things and not always saying yes or committing to an activity that is not related to a top priority.

Pros

This is a great company built on collaboration of all employees. Very open to new ideas and new ways of doing things. Every day is a new day which requires and inspires creativity. Very customer focused and always looking at ideas and efforts that increase long-term value. Allows you to take control of career.

Cons

The ever changing priorities can be a challenge to those that are more singularly focused.
