Great Place to Work

Pros

There are countless opportunities for you no matter your interests. Many of the people I've talked to started in a role that was based on their college degree, but transitioned to a completely different area based on their interests. Supervisors are continually asking what your career interests are and are helpful in getting you to a place where you will succeed. You will be recognized for the work you do. Koch believes in rewarding employees who provide value, and does not believe in rewarding those who merely "get by". If you are putting in a lot of effort, the company is good at recognizing/rewarding you for it. A lot is expected of you, but with that comes trust. My experience has been that I haven't needed to take any vacation/sick time if I'll just be missing a few hours for a dentist/doctor appointment as long as I'm getting my work done.

Cons

Because Koch has a high standard for employees, roles can remain unfilled for a while after an employee retires/quits/is terminated. Our of necessity the role is absorbed by the people in that group while a replacement is hired, but this can sometimes lead to the role being eliminated and the work staying with the group. This can work out, but can often lead to increased hours for those who have taken on the responsibility

Pros

- Lots of challenging projects to help with which makes the work fulfilling and non-stagnant/redundant - Ability to put your own "take" on your role as long as you are providing value, and receiving positive feedback - Flexible working hours and scheduling options (work from home) - Big focus on culture which can apply to life situations as well

Cons

- Workload can get overbearing at times due to the quantity of projects always coming in - Huge division of labor on specific IT functions which can make certain teams very pigeonholed - Team members move around a lot, and teams change function, which leads to confusion on who does what - Inconsistent quality of work with certain teams

Pros

I have worked at Koch Industries for six years now. I really enjoy the people I work with and the challenges I'm faced with daily. They really hold true to the Guiding Principals. I have had the opportunity to work with employees in different locations and it is consistently implemented! It is great to work for a company that is passionate about their Principals as well as ensuring employees are fulfilled.

Cons

If you are resistant to change this would be a tough environment to work in. There is constant change and innovation within groups that can be challenging to adjust to if you are not used to this. But once you realize the change is for the best you can become open.
