      KPMG review of Silicon Valley Office

      Pros

      Good, timely downward feedback and review process for associates. KPMG is a great place to learn accounting and network in the industry. Global opportunities are also possible for high performers.

      Cons

      Associates are very overworked particularly in the Silicon Valley Office and underpaid. Bad upward feedback review process of managers. There are managers that dont deserve to be in their current level of employment and associates who deserve to be at a higher level.

      Pros

      - Large network of SMEs - Partners realistic about the strengths/weaknesses of the firm - Open communication from local office management - Entrepreneurial culture (in Advisory group)

      Cons

      - Travel (with move to a national model it will probably get worse) - Knowledge management poorly executed - Performance management process too "soft" and reasoning/formula for bonuses too vague

      Visibility into different industries, clients and ways of doing business, exposure to finance and accounting principles as well as brand recognition

      Cons

      Risk management process is ridiculous, work papers, inablity to sell many services, poor management at senior partner levels, still a good ol' boy network, poor performing partners are rarely removed, partners are out for themselves only and not the best for thier clients or the company as a whole
