Pros

Free snacks and a fancy office

Cons

Toxic work environment. Management micromanages and makes employees do tasks far outside their roles, like cleaning toilets or moving furniture. Cost-cutting is prioritized over employee well-being, leading to low morale and stress. Not a supportive workplace at all.

Pros

First grab at discounted home improvement goods. Staff discount on merch.

Cons

Shift-based role, not a standard 9 to 5 Includes both opening and closing shifts Schedule can be inconsistent, which makes planning outside of work difficult Much more physically demanding than the job posting suggests You may be responsible, often independently, for unloading and organizing 6 to 10 skids of heavy merchandise on shipment days Actual duties go beyond what is outlined in the posting you can expect: Furniture assembly, Store cleaning and maintenance, Trash removal Reorganizing inventory and showroom layout The role often becomes a catch-all for general store operations Work Environment- Requires being on your feet for the majority of the shift Fast-paced and physically intensive throughout the day Safety shoes are not provided or reimbursed Considering the physical nature of the role, this is something to be aware of

Pros

Great teams and lots of laughter.

Cons

Management doesn’t care about the employees, they show up to the store point out what’s wrong and leave. It’s all about the money. Bonus? Don’t even think about it. Something small goes wrong or you don’t hit your target by 0.000001%, you get nothing. Christmas party? Nope, pay for it yourself. The only thing that’s paid - You get to go on an awards night once a year (all stores from the country) with 3 free drinks and a hotel room for the night most likely room shared with 2 strangers from another shop. No work life balance, you could be doing 12 days in a row with 1 day off because stores are “understaffed”. Delivery days are the worst, too many pallets, stacked 3 metres high that can barely balance.
