Pros

You directly help people overcome barriers and get into work, which can be very rewarding. You build experience in coaching, case management, safeguarding, and employer engagement — all highly transferable. Typically 9–5, Monday–Friday, no weekends or late shifts. Good stepping stone into roles like Employment Officer, Case Worker, or Specialist Advisor.

Cons

Heavy focus on KPIs and outcomes which can feel very counterintuitive in an environment that's so people focused. Everyone is different and boxing objectives into rigid templates doesn't tell the full story. Advisors will manage 70–80+ clients, making it hard to give deep support and provide your full commitment and ability to the job. Micromanagement can creep in at times and feel unnecessary. Management inconsistency as managers seem to pick favourites, allowing for leniency in the rules and behaviour between colleagues. Alienating and creating a cliquey, high school type environment at times. Career growth can be unclear or dependent on internal politics making it hard to trust the company.

Pros

Working with colleagues from a broad range of backgrounds. Fairly straightforward work (although there are targets). You can make a difference to some referrals.

Cons

Quite a lot of admin. Some referrals don't actually want to helped to find work.

Pros

The company provides incentives for hitting targets although this breeds unhealthy competition with many advisors “stealing” performance especially from naive new advisors. There are a handful of decent colleagues with their morality intact that make the job bearable.

Cons

To protect your sanity stay far away from this company or you will fall victim to work related stress and mental health complications. Toxic working conditions are normalised and management team have 0 people skills. I urge anyone reading this to think twice before accepting any offer of employment with this company even if you are desperate to find work, it is not worth it in the long run. If you dare to raise any matter with HR and the management team prepare to be isolated and indirectly pushed out of the role through hostile behaviour which is filtered down from the senior leadership team to advisors who adopt a similar approach to save their own skin. The working environment is unnecessarily pressurised with unrealistic targets pushed onto advisors who work with some of the most vulnerable people in society. Advisors are constantly reminded that they will be put on to a performance improvement plan if their performance slips with no meaningful direction from management of how numbers can be maintained and achieved likely due to the unrealistic nature of the figures.
