As for the hours, they're not short. But lets think about it this way: what are the most highly compensated jobs out there? Doctors and Lawyers are two. They enter their careers with hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt AND have to work long hours before they can get comfortable in their career. Skip the debt part, start a strong career early. It's like putting a rocket into orbit, once you work hard to get it there, it'll stay there for the rest of your life and you can have a comfortable and rewarding job for the long haul.
