Nice place with a few big problems

Pros

Pretty good pay, nice people, opportunities for advancement if someone carries you. Opportunities for international work. Best of both worlds: big company resources, small company cross-functionality and experience.

Cons

Few opportunities for career growth unless you are ex-military and have supply chain experience. The company is in love with ex-military personnel for some reason regardless of how poorly they perform, NA sales and performance shows this. Manufacturing safety is a recent escalating problem. In an effort to cut costs low experience or unqualified supervisors are being hired and in turn number of incidents have gone up. Same is true for operators and technicians, who are hired from the entry level general population vs workers that have technical experience (and require a higher pay). This also results in huge turnaround in manufacturing and any advanced technical procedures are quickly lost.

Pros

Very clean. Great co workers. Decent pay. In house gym. Good benefits. State of the art facility.

Cons

Wrong people get managerial positions. Wrong changes to job made by people who don't know about it. Supervisors use fear and intimidation to get their employees in line. Voices aren't heard.

Pros

Cheap lunch at cafeteria. Great location midtown Manhattan, near central park. Awesome same sex dating scene. Discounts available at local museums(I am not sure if this is still available.) Fine Perfume group loves to share fragrances. Dress is casual business, no jeans, but you can express your creativity in the way you dress.

Cons

It is not about the quality of your work, but rather about ones ability to keep their mouth shut, which is the best way to become well liked at IFF. There is little room for advancement for most. Every year the benefits are reduced. No more pension, health care cost increases. 401K is shabby. No bones about it HR is in place to protect the company and Senior management. The best way to handle an issue involving sexual harassment or physical threats by management is not to go to HR. If you point out a problem you will be made to feel badly and your job/career will be put in jeopardy. The present CEO knows nothing of the industry, and thinks that all companies should be run exactly the way the last company, paper company, he was at was run. The CEO is hypocritical, unapproachable and obnoxious. Since he has been installed at IFF every area of the business has been struggling. The board of directors is awful! They have made mistake, after mistake, after mistake for the past 20 years, it has been painful. Members change and are replaced by equal or worse candidates. Senior managment are becoming millionaires while the stock holders' investment is wasted on unearned bonuses.
