Pros

Pay scale and benefits were great. Fellow employees felt like family. The location I was at was definitely a team environment where every one had input into the overall outcome of production.

Cons

I had opportunities for some advancement but it was definitely limited. Early in my tenure at this company, training was a big deal. As time moved forward that became less and less until it was only a very minor % that received any training.

Great Individuals in the Creative Teams, young and talented , Great Perfumers , Senior and very successful. Great mix of youth and seniors in the Creative Teams that delivers results. Some good individual Commercial & Sales Managers.

Cons

Management , complex ,political and lack focus, totally uncoordinated and confused strategy, lack of talent in Regional General Management and Senior Sales Team & HR . General Management & HR acknowledge lack of work-life balance but prepared to ignore and take advantage. Sales have lost their drive and initiative. No leadership in HR.

Pros

IFF brought the new concepts of cell-based assay to taste modulation compound screening, and created a lot of new modulators for sweet, umami and bitter taste qualities.

Cons

Creation of taste receptor cell lines and evaluation was the biggest challenge since all sweet and umami receptors with at least two subunits and a G-protein, so it was hard to create a cell line with good response in taste assay, especially in HTS evaluation. I tried different vectors, different vector combinations, and three gene in separate vectors or three genes in one vector, finally I got some working stable cell lines. From this, I got a lot of experience in how to create a good stable cell lines and how to evaluate them.
