Pros

Work Like balance is probably one of the best things IBM has going for it provided that you take advantage of what they are offering. Otherwise you can get sucked in and commit way too much time to work.

Cons

The promotion system to rating have recently been disconnected allowing them to give praise but hold off on promoting and paying more. It really boils down to a "trick" to keeping you working for them for less money. On a different topic IBM is a big company and they say you can move around when you first start. I would say that this is not always the case. Depending how the business is doing and your area they will often hold you back.

Pros

A monumental infrastructure with an incredibly powerful intranet, if you can find what you are looking for! A respected name on your CV. Your peers are very commited.

Cons

A culture obsessed with cutting costs, trying to compete with the 'big names' through cutting corners rather than fueling innovation. The needs for executives to constantly drill home this ethos is very apparent. Much of your work time is taken up through needless administration.
