Pros

Hyatt Corporate exemplifies a wellness-focused culture, emphasizing the importance of employees’ well-being both physically and mentally. From wellness programs to support services, the company genuinely cares for its team members. One of the standout aspects of Hyatt is its flexible work environment. Although there has been a recent RTO mandate for corporate workers, Hyatt offers employees the freedom to find what works best for them. This adaptability fosters a positive, productive workplace. Hyatt is also an expanding company, continuously growing its portfolio of hotels and services globally. With each new venture, the company offers more opportunities for professional growth and development, encouraging employees to move forward with the organization.

Cons

While Hyatt is known for fostering a supportive and flexible work environment, growth opportunities can be a significant challenge, especially for those seeking advancement. Since I joined in 2021, it’s become increasingly difficult to find a clear path forward. Despite coming in with clear intentions for growth, I’ve seen very little movement, even after the initial "recovery" from the pandemic. I was told directly that there is no foreseeable timeline for when a promotion might be possible, and this has led to burnout, boredom, and feels somewhat like a bait and switch. Pay is another sticking point, especially compared to competitors in the industry. While the work environment is supportive, it often feels like compensation doesn’t match up to market standards, and the path to a raise or promotion is slow-moving. The corporate climb at Hyatt can take years, and promotions seem to depend more on timing and team dynamics rather than individual performance or merit. I’ve made it a point to meet with many long-tenured employees for advice on advancement, but there has been little practical guidance. It’s common to see people sitting in the same roles for years without upward movement, which may work for some, but it’s disheartening for those of us who want to grow. It feels like progress is tied to team structures and happens at an incredibly slow pace, making it hard to envision a long-term career here. Again, this could vary. Although I work with amazing people, the lack of clear advancement opportunities and the overall slow progression within the company make it difficult to stay motivated. Even as the company has expanded, doubling its brands since 2021, there hasn’t been a corresponding increase in internal mobility or career growth for existing employees - at least not on my team.
