Pros

It is a family run company. Once you are part of the inner family circle you are hooked. You can make a career by traveling from one exciting city to the other experiencing different cultures learning new languages and enjoying life to the fullest. If you are stuck in one place you will need a bit more patience but if you are good, you will succeed.

Cons

Pay is never good in any hotel company, nor are the hours. Hyatt leaves a lot of freedom to its individual hotels, hence the experience will not be consistent. Each hotel is reflecting the culture of its General Manager or Regional VP, which at times might be a downside working for this otherwise phenomenal company.

Pros

Unlike other hotel companies Hyatt genuinely takes care of their associates. Credibility counts, GMs and VPs have worked their way up in the organization and the average tenure of top brass is 15+ years. Every hotel you work at have associates who have been there for 10-20-30 years............ speaks volumes about a company's culture of respect and care.

Cons

It's not a 9 to 5 job, not for the folks who are not passionate about 'hospitality'.........it's a way of life - hard work, orchestrated group effort yet rewarding.

Pros

Hyatt is an industry leader. It is definitely a great place to start a career. At my location the turnover rate was very low, and generally meant that the person leaving and being replaced had been moved to a new job within the hotel or was promoted outside of the hotel.

Cons

Hyatt is a management company. Every hotel is independently owned, so your experience can vary widely. Luckily, my hotel has a top-notch staff. However, some people who transferred from other hotels have less than rave reviews about the staff from where they came.
