Pros

Good pay, great flexibility in terms of hours. Exactly what I needed as a college student, and I supplement my full time income with the occasional shifts at the Hilton still.

Cons

There are quite a few non-English speaking individuals in the department. Great people to work with, as the staff is like it's own little family. However, due to the ability to speak English, more client-facing responsibilities are given to me. Not a real negative as the reasoning behind it is perfectly understandable, but it can be awfully irritating at times. While Spanish is prevelant as the alternative language of choice, some employees don't speak a drop of it or English, which makes communication very difficult in stressful work situations (the work itself isn't that stressful, but during crunch-times, it can be an overwhelming obstacle).

Pros

Opportunity to pursue a career globally. Great benefits and employees discounts. Constantly interacting with customers and associates at all levels of the organization.

Cons

The nature of the business requires constant customer interaction and addressing complaints. Pro active customer service is a must. Ability to resolve problem is the key to success.

Pros

The primary reason to work for Hilton and it's subsidiaries (I worked at a Hampton Inn) is for the discounts, both for you and your family. The freedom is also nice.

Cons

In the 'entry-level' positions you won't get much in the way of compensation. I think I made less than people working at McDonald's. The hours are rough, and if someone on the shift after you calls in, you'll often be expected to work their shift. I once worked for 20 hours straight as a result of this.
