Pros

IT at the operations center in Memphis used to be at the good end of a firehose of money, but the good old days are clearly over. Now the best thing about the place is free coffee. But they've stopped giving away cups.

Cons

With (I think) a few groups that are notable exceptions, IT management is frustratingly inept. They will be very nice to you and give you lots of money (well, they would until about 6 months ago) but they are incapable of differentiating between good work and gross incompetence. This is all starting to catch up now and there's a mood of panic about the place. People are being laid off rapidly; sadly your chances of going away don't seem at all related to your usefulness to the company.

Pros

Best part of working at Hilton - corporate benefits especially travel/hotel discounts Brand is amazing! Leader in the hospitality industry, Trendy in this space

Cons

Inconsistent HR policies - remote working was not consistently applied and management lacked leadership qualities and overall knowledge of their roles, Flexibility - for some but not for all, only a select few as long as you were in the HR clique, Thrive Global - the intent was great - just not fairly rolled out - Leadership out of touch that not everyone was able to participate in this initiative, many of the HR leaders unsophisticated in their skill set and McLean HR - ran like a sorority

Good Place to Work in Good Times

Pros

Great benefits, competitive pay, flexible schedules. In good times, they really are a great place to work.

Cons

- Flexible schedule doesn't mean you don't work extra hours, you just have more say in how to split it up. You will be working round the clock if you don't have a supportive manager to push back for you. - Very hierarchical - decisions and information is shared depending on job level, not job responsibilities. If you are a manager running a project, you are not included in conversations that impact your work. Even at Director and above, autonomy in satellite regions are limited if you have a manager elsewhere. - Very US-centric. Standards and policies are all very focused on US customs even if they make no sense in the region. - Poor crisis management and communication. COVID has really hit the company hard and they have not lived up to their best places to work reputation. Whilst it is understandable that they were blindsided as everyone was, senior management should have focused more on internal comms than external comms.
