Pros

Iconic Magazine Media Brands that people love!

Cons

New president that has a very short term outlook, and presumes he’s the smartest person in the room. Making change can be necessary, but doing it in a way that has total disregard for people and the brands that have sustained the company for many years isn’t wise or in keeping in the spirit of very decent Vice-Chairman who built the Company, Frank Bennic. Staff is anxious and many previously loyal employees are seeking employment elsewhere.

Good company, poor morale

Pros

This was a good place to start a career because of it's reputation and perks (like a gym on site, discounts at local stores, etc). The Cafe and Health Center are great as well. Also, the hours (which do differ depending on department) are pretty much 9-5, and there is not a lot of pressure to work on the weekends or after you head home.

Cons

It's almost impossible to move up without someone above of you leaving or getting promoted themselves. There are no real raises besides the standard 1-2% each year, no bonuses unless you are pretty high up (which is hard to get to in the first place), so you don't feel as though you are being acknowledged or compensated for your week. Every department is different, but from my experience morale is pretty low and there aren't incentives to do more than the minimum on a day-to-day basis.

Pros

Good building; lots of perks; great coworkers; delicious food; internal job board

Cons

Mean Human Resources department; art gallery isn't as stocked as it could be; gym only has one scent of body wash; sometimes, the sushi bar runs out of tuna; there are only 16 elevators, so you might have to stop at other people's floors

With a company this size in the heart of New York City, employees in these departments work the best to keep up with the demand.
