Pros

Probably the last media company out there that really cares and values quality journalism, deep roots in journalism, privately owned so the company cares about the product and employees - not shareholders

Cons

It takes a while to build that vacation time. First and even second year employees might be disappointed

Pros

This is specifically for Hearst Television. With TV stations across the country, Hearst offers a lot of room for growth, particularly if you're willing to move. Because of that growth, entry-level and other jobs are often available. It's a great place to learn the TV and digital journalism business and potentially have a lasting career. Stations in small markets to big markets means you can probably find a good fit.

Cons

Don't necessarily expect high salaries, though that's an issue across the industry. Advancement might be limited for some positions if you're unwilling to relocate. Like most daily journalism gigs, hours can be bad, especially for those just getting into the field, if you don't like working late nights or early mornings.
