Pros

Good experience at the ground level for upstream operations. Lots of training. Good pay for entry level job right out of college.

Cons

Working conditions, long hours, always traveling but they let you know about this 100% during the recruitment and hiring phase. Pay is better than other industries but low within the industry. When layoff offs come you can be let go if you hold an advanced position rather than bumping you down and laying off an underachiever at a lower position. Advancement opportunities are very rare, non existent in a downturn.
