Pros

Flexible schedule when not offshore. (15 days on, 6 days off). Great training at the Fort Worth training center.

Cons

Offshore life is a whole other lifestyle. Hazardous work (explosives, radiation, Helicopter rides to most offshore rigs). Work until the job is done, staying up 24 hours is normal. Management does not like Field Engineers in the field, so it's difficult to move up into office positions. Need to be on call for the 15 days, could go offshore at anytime.

Cons

A lot of the 'training' is thinly-veiled hazing, work-life balance is non-existent, employees are viewed as an expense and an inconvenience,
