Pros

Working at Halliburton Consulting affords you two significant advantages that you cannot get anywhere else - complete and full access to everything that Halliburton offers in its other business segments, including Landmark Software; and the opportunity to work on fulfilling projects with some of the industry's brightest people, while using cutting-edge ideas and processes being implemented right now, and globally. These two qualities alone make a position at Halliburton Consulting a hard offer to refuse. This organization can take someone places and by nature, essentially guarantees that they will grow their skills.

Cons

As a consultant, one is a resource, and unfortunately, this is more apparent in Halliburton Consulting than other consulting groups I've experienced. The structure of the North American division has allowed for difficulties in connecting with management, and even with other colleagues within the organization. There lacks the cohesiveness that is present among similar organizations, which would allow for shared ideas and experiences to grow the group as a whole, as opposed to perhaps only a portion it, and also each as individuals. The idea is present, to be sure, but there is little follow-through. In addition, new employees should know that training in basic divisional practices are not guaranteed. New hire training, depending on the client need for resources (aka the consultant), can easily be foregone. Even an internal transfer can have difficulties adjusting, so being prepared for this possibility is important, and will not necessarily be communicated either. Also, with so many resources (consultants) per hiring manager, expect difficulty receiving responses to direct emails and/or phone calls. Team Leads are set in place, but again, this may not be communicated to you for some time. It is this kind of detective work that can eat up a lot of one's time and energy, and unnecessarily add to the already high-stress and work load.

Pros

Plenty of work to get the experience and challenging.

Cons

Not enough IT Security personnel to provide enough coverage for such a huge company. The team there works extremely hard to pick up the slack in numbers but very knowledgeable.
