Pros

Great & storied brand. New head of creative is taking it in a...unique direction. Time will tell how his unique design direction will translate into year-over-year long term sales growth. With a few exceptions, the majority of associates are dedicated and truly good, caring people who want to work as a collaborative team. People want to help you succeed. I'd say the people are the best part of working here. Generous vacation time offered (see below - it's tough to actually use).

Cons

Many, many demands placed on associates. While employer demands are certainly to be expected, it's become exhaustingly excessive to the point where salaried workers routinely work extra long days, on their days off and / or vacation time just to keep up. Work / life balance toughest it's ever been. Most divisions are stretched so thin so as to make it harder for everyone else to do their job. I have seen more people leave in the past year and a half due to the unmanageable workload. Little expression of appreciation whether you work 60 hrs a week or 40 hrs a week. If you are not self-motivated, forget it. Goals set unrealistically high for hopes of a bonus. It's great to strive and aim high, but the goals should be attainable.

Pros

The potential to advance, and support to move from store to store. Generous company with great healthcare and 401K benefits.

Cons

Advancement is given to people with less experience and who are more visible to upper management. No consistency with training and development. Difficult to manage training schedules. Company creates positions for the sake of advancement.
