Pros

Some of the software is decent if you really are into the security business and you're a believer. Gene Hodges is pretty cool but the problems are with other management figures, and outside of San Diego too.

Cons

Websense tries to hire cheap younger staff, doesn't give them the full job title, yet still places the same responsibilities and acccountability on their shoulders as it would a full blown manager. Hardly fair. There are lots of niche areas where one senior manager who dislikes you can effectively end your career. A typical large US multinational. If you set low targets and achieve them, everybody slaps each other's backs and congratulates each other. If you get 90% of the way to a major breakthrough but don't do it on time, you get fired.

Pros

It is an interesting and challenging place to work. The problems will always be complicated and the end solution is never a simple choice.

Cons

Merger strategies were badly screwed up, changes in major Support systems were made at the same time, Management doesn't listen to its employees, and software is shipped on schedule ready or not. Development doesn't listen to Support to determine what things need to be done to make the product better from a Customer perspective. Product Management doesn't have any clue and doesn't attend enough meetings to make the difference they should.

Pros

The people in the lower levels have heart. The facility is decent and the location is nice. The product is pretty good though the future of it is uncertain. The benefits package was on par as well.

Cons

Overall, mangement is incompetent and untrustworthy. They have many times been caught up in their own lies, only to shed those off to some unsuspecting line-level worker and it's them that gets fired. Pay wise you have to fight very hard to get a fair package, It seems HR doesn't believe in the myriad of salary surveys that are available to them, and decide themselves what a posiiton is worth - And of course they then end up 10-15K shy - So there is some significant turnover.
