Questionable Biased Management attitude

Pros

Meet great people and good exposure to technical real life IT challenges. A good career path if no other opportunity is available. Very few managers are remaining.

Cons

Unfair workload with little rewards for those who work quietly. Management attitude is like you should be grateful that we give you this job, now you have to accept unrealistic demands and achieve all we require. Can reward the people who speak well of themselves not those who work harder quietly.

While working at Websense...

Pros

Compensation was decent compared to other similar job titles -- if you could actually get a hold of the prospects. Company was experiencing growth at the time.

Cons

Call volume expected from management was unreasonable. There will be days of making 70 calls and talk to maybe 1 or 2, as the people you are calling are never at their desk (IT industry). Parking is horrible.

Pros

Overall we can say that Websense is a good place to be, if you want to learn a lot from a technical point of view, don't hope any specific training or real certification that will add value to your cv for carreer progression, you want get it ! The company is considered a leader in Web Security and the software is quite interesting. The technical knowledege that you can get is interesting for the one pushing themselve really hard. The people are interesting and inteligent people to work with.

Cons

The Management is quite poor, target are always increased, bonus never coming. There is no recognition for good work provided, even when the client is highly statisfied. You will not get any specific training on other technology, management will not let you. Sometime you migh have the feeling that they you want you to fail, instead of truly supporting you however you can learn a lot by working with the client, but nothing is in place for your personal development. The technical supervisor are not really suporting as team leader as they unfortunaltely don't understand the product as well as the engineer, therefore they will pretend to help you, but might stab you in the back...Overall this is a good place to learn but definetly not a good place to stay. A lot of people are not happy. The only thing that matter is not the quality of the work that you provide to the client, but the quality of the numbers generated...
