Obvious that favoritism plays a big role—some people get promoted or protected no matter how they perform, while others who actually do the work get overlooked or micromanaged.

At Flowbox, we continuously work to strengthen how performance, growth, and development decisions are made. We have implemented a performance framework supported by a market benchmarking tool, which provides tech salary bands to ensure a consistent and comparable structure across roles. This framework is directly linked to an updated performance review process, now reinforced with clearer criteria, structured processes, and review committees to support fairness and consistency. In addition, we have introduced a People Manager role with a regular 1:1 listening program across the organization, to ensure employees are heard and supported on an ongoing basis. :)

Pros

Flowbox used to be a great organization with a vibrant culture, talented people, and attractive benefits. The Stockholm office had a fantastic environment, high ceilings, a central location, and recreational amenities like a ping pong table, Mario Kart, FIFA, a terrace, and a well-stocked Convini fridge. The company was also diverse, with employees from 17 different nationalities, and the pay was competitive.

Cons

Unfortunately, the organization's leadership has been a glaring weakness from the very beginning and has only deteriorated over time. This weakness in leadership has pushed the company to its knees, and it's heartbreaking to see how capable individuals have been leaving the organization, while those who should have left remain, further poisoning the atmosphere. A clear example of this was the mass exodus of product managers and team leads following a restructuring in early 2022. At that point, the only product manager left was not only incompetent but also toxically disruptive, creating a hostile work environment. Flowbox had immense potential, but the mismanagement has dashed any hope of recovery. The current culture and status of the company seem irreparable, and I strongly advise against considering employment here.

There have been a lot of changes in 2022, most of which are related to the merge with Photoslurp in Spain, so we are facing both very positive and exciting changes but also challenges, of course.
