The Numbers Game

Pros

You can and do meet some good people who are hard workers. Some stations, ramps, and hubs aren't the same. Other than that it is hard to say anything positive about Fedex.

Cons

Fedex Express cares about two things, it's numbers and how it looks. Since it's employees are neither, they do not care for their employees. Now that may vary depending on the district, station/ramp/hub, and managers. One thing is for sure, it is not what it used to be and is on a continuous trend downward. Management is very political, it boils down to nepotism and cronyism. There is really no room for growth and raises are a joke. Someone hired right now off the streets can make close to if not more than someone who has been with the company 10 years. Some stations, ramps, and hubs aren't the same.

Courier

Pros

Starting pay is Decent. Excellent benefits. Great environment to work in. Extra hours available.

Cons

Recently hired as a part time courier, downfall is its a couple months wait to get into courier school, so in the mean time you work as a package handler, once you go to defensive driving then you get a few more hours by getting a small route until you finish courier school.

Great place to work!

Pros

Great benefits (even for part-time!), 401K plan, guaranteed minimum 17.5 hours/week paid regardless of actual hours worked, plenty of opportunity to move up in the company, and start day 1 of employment with 2 paid personal days and 2 paid sick days .

Cons

Can get stressful at times. Constantly GO GO GO when on the road as a courier. They send you to defensive driving class for a couple days to learn how to properly and safely drive the FedEx truck. Afterward they send you on the road with a courier who basically tells you to forget almost everything you learned so you can hurry hurry through your route to stay within the strict timelines.
