Pros

- Tuition Reimbursement, decent pay, - Some opportunities for advancement, but only if you know how to play the political game - Active in the community

Cons

- Salary range just the average even if you are a rock star. - So many restrictions to avoid lawsuits often impossible to get things done and can't get paid what you're worth. I had a 'lifer' who would literally sleep at his desk and I still couldn't fire him. - Reached a point that they were no longer innovative. After Amazon was on 60 mins saying they were looking at using drones to deliver packages in the future, the next day top leadership literally started a company-wide meeting by joking about how stupid of an idea it was (who's laughing now?)

Managing at FedEx Ground

Pros

Senior managers set their own hours. You're held accountable for all the results of your station. You're in charge of development, discipline, terminating, recruiting employees. You generally have staffing levels set to run an efficient operation. Excellent benefits package when compared to other companies in the transportation industry. Invested in online training of their employees.

Cons

Little control over the bonus as it's more corporate performance driven. Peak season in December usually means working 6 days a week with vacations blacked out between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Every district is run differently and held to different standards as the directors have freedom to operate as they see fit. Sometimes difficult to complete training while doing your regular job duties. Sometimes the pressure to show positive results can be detrimental to integrity.
