Pros

The focus on technology and producing custom products really depended upon innovation and the teamwork of individuals. As Kinko's there was something rewarding about landing a large job and finding all of the resources and personnel to get it done. The discount for shipping is nice around the holidays

Cons

The management talent is gone. The managers used to be solid professionals who knew their job and knew all facets of the business. The company, through its poorly executed accountability systems, focus on metrics ad-nauseum, and an over reliance on a zero-defect audit which had dubious and negative effects on revenue drove out the best managers. The company is now resorting to center managers who 2-3 years ago they would never DREAM of allowing to take over a center. The company is on a race towards the bottom with only the team members of last resort taking the management positions that have been vacated by talent. The company started a long and treacherous path towards metric-of-the-week mentality and the notion that managers shouldn't know how to do anything the TM's know. It is definitely showing. The amount of institutional knowledge that has fled the company is absurd. The turnover became such an issue that it was removed as a ranking for determining leadership effectiveness. What sense does it make to have all of your tenured, knowledgeable talent leave when you are a technology and hard skills focused environment?

Pros

Honestly this company does come with very nice medical, dental and vision benefits. 80% Coverage for most stuff. 90% for some things and a few freebies. Also it does pay mileage, it's a bit of a pain paper work wise but if you end up traveling at all for a job there they'll pay for it. So that's pretty nice.

Cons

I haven't even been with the company for that long, about 5 years and even I think it's a former shell of it's self. Before this job I used to think myself a cynical pessimist but now I have found a master to learn from. This company is the most disorganized self destructing logistics based company I have seen. I an totally serious, in a conference call managers meeting I listened to a higher up from corporate literally put their fingers in their ears and say "la la la la la la" when they didn't want to hear about a complaint that someone had about having to work off the clock inorder to get what corporate wanted done. And the truly sad thing is that things may have gotten worse because of the poor economy but then we still regularly get emails on a biweekly basis about both the company doing awesome, even making an additional 50 million dollars above the usual 15% increase that quarter, and the next week how team members are doing enough to help save the starving company and that there's new mandatory training with slashed payroll budgets.

Pros

The promotion opportunities within the centers were fair. District Manager focus on promoting within which was a postive.

Cons

Competency of leaders were always in question. The salary and rewarding employees are a negative at Fedex Office.
