Pros

The hours are very flexible and my former manager was usually willing to work with my school schedule. Lucky for me, I spent my first year with an great boss who passed on a lot of knowledge to me, both work and life related. After he left and they promoted an OSP to the manager position and that was when I started to doubt my content in the company.

Cons

Being the only part time sales support person in a store with an OSP and General manager means you get to do ALL the grunt work. There is a lot of heavy lifting, with boxes of product weighing up to around 50lbs. All the cleaning, vending, ordering, pulling orders, picking up after other employees, and other in-store responsibilities are yours to take care of and no one else's. My new manager has a strong view of what is "part time" work and what isnt; for example, the OSP was yelled at for putting stock away on a day I wasn't there. Since we only have one truck, my manager and OSP leave when I get there in the morning for around 4 hours at a time so 90% of my shift is spent alone aside from phone calls and walk-in customers. This also makes it hard to answer all customer questions correctly when you're the only sales associate there. There is small hope of advancement. They are hiring in another part timer at my store instead of letting me go full time there because its cheaper for the company. From what I've seen, there hasn't been any promotions of female employees in my district. Its a very male dominated company and most females seem to stay at the store positions or leave the company. The company doesn't show too much concern towards part timers. They cut our hours last year by a third (from 24 to 16), effective from the 17th of November to the beginning of 2015. They sent out an email to general managers on the 4th of November telling them the cuts would take effect that day, two weeks before they said they would. Upper management also chose to blame the stores for not making enough money and that's why they had to cut part time hours. They told us about it through a company video on the internal website, but didn't release any more information about it until they cut them on the 4th. For Christmas, they give store employees a box of candy and food instead of a bonus. Upper management probably doesn't get a box of food as their Christmas bonus. Okay, end rant.

Pros

Great training, lots of great people. Lots of independence.

Cons

On a so called pay plan with a so called bonus/commission. My pay has either stayed the same or decreased since 2008. Started with the company in 2000. If our group has not grown sales, why do they keep us around? I think they do but no way of verifying figures for bonus. I do not work in a branch. Leadership acts like everything is fine.
