Pros

No weekends Every Store is different Lots of Customer Interaction Training Program Flexible Schedules Fastenal is an ok company if you're starting out to get some experience, the training programs to get your company and product knowledge up are outstanding, and every store is almost a franchise...the stores are company owned, but the book of business at each branch is completely different

Cons

Pay Commission Structure Customer Account Portability Unqualified GMs Pay First and foremost, generally speaking you're going to be hired as a PT Sales Support person, moving into FT can come as quickly as a couple months or as long as you please. You can expect PT pay to be at or below average for your area. FT pay is well, WELL, below industry average for OSPs, GMs, and the like ($26.5K in OH for base FT, $30K base for GM) plus commission. The commission for OSPs is based mainly on new business and the commission pct is pretty much cut in half for existing business. There is no requirement for Management (at the store level at least) to have a college degree, rather if you have been an ok sales person for a couple years you have a decent shot, depending on the store. There is no difference in pay for those with or without a degree. District Managers average low to mid six figures with quarterly commissions.
