Pros

They can get you a position in a 'household name' company, which is something good for your CV, however, they don't seem to care about the quality of the position / project / company

Cons

Very little support actually provided, despite saying the opposite in all promotional material and insight days The training given is grossly over-valued as a deterrent to breaking your 2-year contract with them You are often bullied into staying in positions / companies you dislike as the account manager and FDM will lose money You are often treated like a child by UK account managers - even if you have previous work experience Promises are made about vacancies and opportunities but are meaningless Any promotion is gained through nepotism

FDM Group Response

I’m very sorry to hear that you wouldn’t recommend FDM and that you don’t think we care about you. We have a number of support programmes in place to ensure that our people receive the support they require both in-house and on-site. This includes consultant peer support ambassadors, relationships managers, business development managers, as well as HR, academy and account management support. We also have an established mentoring programme. All of these initiatives are designed to support our people in their careers. Perhaps the support available wasn’t something you were aware of and this is something I want to investigate further. We appreciate that the programme may not suit everyone, which is why we are as transparent as possible in presenting the whole programme including the commitment by FDM and the commitment expected from you. We have launched the careers of thousands of people and all promotions are earned, so I am not sure what you mean by promotions gained through nepotism. It concerns me to hear that you felt bullied and treated like a child by account managers. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss this further so that I can personally investigate and address where necessary. Pros

They provide free training for every trainee, so if you don’t have a technical background, they can prepare you for a technical interview. They provide competitive salary for fresh graduates. The medical insurance package is good. If you are fresh to the market, they can often get you into big names with a role that would be pretty hard to apply yourself. If you are lucky enough ( that depends on the client contract), you can often get to work for 2+ companies in different roles in your two years contract.

Cons

If you are already technical enough (with computer science background), 3/4 of the training would be a waste of your time. The training they provided is a fast tracked one, with one module each week and ends each module with an examination so you kind of crossed out items on a checklist for interview, but that does not mean you have acquired the knowledge for your work. You don’t get to choose which role or client you are assigned to. They have some blue-chip companies but they also have a local mix (still big names tho). Employees voices are not valued. On-site support is minimal. No paid sick leave. If you resign before the 2 years contract ends, you are going to pay a large sum of money regardless of the time u spent.

Pros

Can get you a foot in the door to big name companies, with only a four year degree

Cons

In the first two years, your salary is 50% or less of what client pays FDM
