Pros

Top class trainers and fantastic facilities

Cons

So many to list but essentially they can not communicate with trainees, they claim they can but they can't. This is literally like a meat market and they churn out people like "sausages" . If your face doesn't fit you can forget about it. Give them a miss.

Jonathan Young, CIO "It’s good to hear that you rate the trainers highly and that you enjoyed the FDM facilities. Your other comments around poor communication concern me though. Would you be prepared to be a little more specific and give me some examples? If so, please could you mail me on jonathan.young@fdmgroup.com so we can arrange a time to discuss?”

Pros

Some background: I joined FDM two months ago following my graduation from university. I majored in business. Like many others, I was hesitant to join FDM when I was first offered the opportunity due to reading the number of negative reviews on this site and the somewhat low compensation. But I decided to give it a shot as we do have a two week grace period to quit if desired. And I'm glad I did. What it comes down to is that FDM opens up opportunities in the industry that you otherwise would not be considered for without the right training, experience, or connections. The assignments available are generally not entry level jobs and FDM's training prepares you for that. This allows us to advance faster up the corporate ladder so to speak. All of FDM's clients are large blue chip companies. As of right now, consultant compensation in Canada is $40K first year, and $45K second year with benefits. Decent, especially considering the number of unpaid internships in the market just a year ago. Overall, my recommendation is to take this opportunity if you are just entering the job market with little experience or practical skill. This is an investment towards your future. I joke around with my colleagues that my FDM contract is my master's degree, except I'm being paid and practically guaranteed a job at the end of it. FDM's training is fast paced, so be ready to learn a lot. Culture is great.

This job is not for the faint of heart :)

Pros

Good way to kick start your career if you have trouble finding a job elsewhere. Good list blue chip clients to work with.

Cons

Low pay for the kind of work you'll be doing, they takes 60-70% of what clients pay them. FDM is a good back up choice if you cant' find an IT job somewhere else.
