Pros

Gives very brief training in some basic computer science subjects

Cons

- Worst management I have ever worked under - Takes away a huge share of your income. - Brings very less amount of new opportunities(interviews) - Most of the positions are of non-software engineering types

Pros

Opportunities to work as a contractor at other companies in the hope that they will bring you on full time after the 2 yrs

Cons

No guaranteed placement location. Very low pay for high cost of living cities. Training was a joke. Not guaranteed interviews with clients. Sketchy pay stubs. They don't have enough jobs for the amount of people they're training. You're on your own if after 2 yrs, the client that you're contracting for doesn't decide to hire you as a full time employee. No on client site support.

Pros

A great way to get your foot in the door. As a self-taught programmer (my bachelor's degree is in biology) I had a really difficult time trying to get an interview for a full time position. FDM group hired me though! There is four months of training that is basically a software engineering boot camp, and they work with all new hires to help construct a resume, provide mock interviews, and set up interviews with the companies they work with (mostly in the finance industry). I was hired on as a contractor with JP Morgan and spent two years there learning and gaining experience in current industry best practices. The staff is excellent and they provide resources and support through the length of your contract. The health insurance was also really good.

Cons

The salary is lower than what you would earn as a regular full time employee at the company you contract with, and there is a two year commitment.
