You're told where to work and have no say in the matter, wherever the location may be or what your personal circumstances are.
The wage you're paid if you're placed in London is ridiculous. Good luck living comfortably!
You're treated as a resource and not as a person. As soon as you're on placement they're not bothered about you, as long as you're making the company and the account managers money.
Account managers will only be nice to you if there's potential for them to place you, otherwise they have no interest in you whatsoever if they can't potentially make money from you.
If the client wants you to work 48 hours a week, although uncommon, they have a right to do so, as stated in the contract.
FDM will happily stab you in the back if it will keep their clients happy. I.e. what the client says, goes and as an employee, theure not interested in your opinion.
You're tied into a 2 year contract and if you leave, they can try to charge you £22,000 for the training costs which are MASSIVELY overinflated, considering you could pay for the course materials and exams for a couple of hundred quid online. There was a legal case last year regarding this.. Google it!
They're very good at manipulating the public with their 'Women in IT' initiatives and getting people back into business, when the company are not in it for those reasons but to help build up their profit margins.
