Pros

- If you're lucky enough, you can land on a team with nice people. - Workdays are quite light.

Cons

- Zero general transparency: After three years, I still haven't had a sincere conversation with my manager. Every time I try to highlight some problem I got gaslighted and some months later I found out that the problem exploded in front our faces. Not a single thing is public or recognized, never. You have to figure out what's going on by listening to other's conversations. Like the layoffs we had 3 years ago, 10% of technicians got fired. Throwing someone under the buss is the common thing. - Managers: Most of Spanish sage offices were before independent companies that were bought by Sage. That means that inside the office, all the managers have been in the same position for at least 20 years. So they keep working with obsolete methodologies, they still have the need to control the team every moment, etc. They're there to be your boss, not your leader. In fact, some of them already know that's too expensive to fire them, so the tendency is to do the minimum and below. And if they can, they'll try to cheat on you for their own benefit. - Carer: In the same line, there's never a manager or similar role available, so there are no opportunities to be promoted, zero. Salary rises are minimum. - Office: We've been threatened two years ago to sign a hybrid contract with the promise that we'll never need to go to the office. Obviously was a lie, nowadays, we're going twice peer week and there's no possible “excuse”. Nor kids, responsibilities or whatever. The only thing they care is to fill the office. And doesn't even make sense, I go just to do the same as at home, being the entire day on the phone talking with mates in other countries. - Working: Technicians doesn't mean anything, all the task are ruled by the internal politics. The task priority depends on how much reputation can the manager obtain from it, not how much can help the team or development. - Diversity and inclusion: None of them. Other companions had loots of troubles with inclusion, even from human resources. - Compensation or benefits: There's nothing like that at all. We used to have some learning time, but they canceled it. In fact, the company has never expended a euro to invite me to a team dinner or something. And the list goes on… This company is a NO-GO if you want to work on any Spanish office. The problems, as for what I've spoken, are mostly the same on all the teams.

Pros

Working at Sage these past 4 years has been both rewarding and energizing. I’ve really valued the opportunity to collaborate with talented teams across the business while helping evolve our Developer Content organization into a broader developer experience and AI-enabled function. One of the most meaningful parts of the experience has been seeing how open people are to innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. It’s been exciting to contribute to initiatives that improve both internal workflows and the experience for our developer community. I’m grateful for the relationships, growth opportunities, and trust I’ve been given throughout the year, and I’m looking forward to what’s ahead.

Cons

With so much innovation and transformation happening across the company, priorities can evolve quickly — but it also creates exciting opportunities to learn, adapt, and contribute to meaningful change.

Pros

-Pay’s decent -Benefits are solid -The Sage Foundation feels like proper philanthropy -Some genuinely nice people -If you’re happy treating work as just a payslip and don’t mind things being a bit dull, Sage is actually quite a comfortable place to be. That stability is a real perk

Cons

-Far too many layers of middle management and general bureaucracy -The Ai push is getting a bit daft -Not especially innovative, so the work can feel quite uninspiring. I’m grateful to be employed, but if you’re after something more interesting, Sage will probably disappoint. That said, some people prefer it that way, fair enough -The office / hybrid requirements feel a bit pointless -Sage doesn’t tend to do layoffs, which is good, but it does mean there are quite a few people where you’re not entirely sure what they do. A lot of meetings, essentially. Even the positives come with trade-offs
