Pros

My LM is supportive in my decisions and does not micro-manage. I do have to say the retention rate within my team is surprisingly high. Pay was fair for my position when first joining the company but due to restructuring, the compensation does not remotely match the amount of responsibility and management.

Cons

This company does not care about the well being of their employees. Everyone feels stressed and overworked in every department. I have never seen a CRO give 7-10 studies to one individual. The compensation does not match the amount of work, stress, management, and difficulty of the job. This role has a huge emphasis on budgets and finances, however, this was never mentioned during the interview. It almost sets everyone up for failure. My entire team despises this thing called EAC every month. There are too many trainings and it’s impossible to retain all the information when upper management decides to change everything constantly. Bonuses and merit raises are essentially non-existent. Overall, I have never disliked a company so much. You are just a number here and that’s it.

Pros

Resources and access to good studies to be successful in research, immediate PTO benefits, 401k match.

Cons

Growth opportunities/compensation - besides the annual merit raises of <3 percent I haven’t gotten a raise in 5 years.

Pros

Great pay initially, especially after negotiating. People are very smart and willing to meet for networking and learning opportunities. Flexibility and work life balance is by far the best perk - especially since many roles are fully remote.

Cons

Merit raises have been subpar the last 4 years and do not come close to keeping with inflation, consistently the company cites great EBITDA growth but that never is shown in bonuses nor merit raises despite receiving “exceeds expectations” ratings. Parental leave is a nominal. Very easy to get “lost in the sauce” of such a large company.
