Pros

* Amazing Teams (intelligent, pleasant to work with, etc) * Seriously cool environment (very laid back) * Great direct managers

Cons

* Very political. Say the wrong thing and you'll get fired "for no reason" even if it's protected speech. * Every year, they lower the average salary of their software engineers. It used to be over 100k in Stl, but now it's under 100k in Philly which has 30% higher cost of living. * They shut down a branch every year, laying off everyone there. This includes Saint Louis and Atlanta. Eventually, they'll outsource everything to India (they're in the process of it and about 1/4 there) * A director rounded up a bunch of people he just laid off into a room to promote some people he hadn't laid off and talked about growth in the company to room half full of people he laid off a week earlier. * Was terminated by the director (while my manager was on vacation in Mexico) the day after I gave my two weeks notice. If you're going to quit, don't give them notice. * Director liked to blame predecessor for everything even though he had been gone a while. * Was brought on a 4 months before they announced they were closing the Saint Louis branch

Thank you for this balanced and thoughtful review. We're glad to hear that our benefits and investment in people are making a positive impact, those are commitments we take seriously. On the process feedback: Leadership is actively reviewing operational workflows, and the advice to listen more closely to employee feedback is something we're holding ourselves accountable to. If you're open to it, we'd encourage you to bring specific examples forward through your team or people and culture contacts. Change is most effective when it's grounded in the real experiences of the people doing the work, and that means you. Feel free to reach out to us at elseviergdrev@elsevier.com to provide more information Thank you for staying engaged and for caring enough to share this. It matters.

Pros

-Great company -Team has talented, experienced account managers and product experts who know the territory well

Cons

West team management is heavy on micromanagement and sets unrealistic territory targets without rep input — high turnover, and long tenure in company seems to shield this manager from accountability and growth
