Pros
I loved working for CSM until Ascension took over. There were, of course, always things to complain about like the difficult patient population we commonly see and the workload of a nurse. But overall, I loved all my coworkers, my manager had a great open-door policy and was very approachable, very flexible work schedule, etc.
Cons
Since Ascension took over, our staffing has been cut, our staffing grid has been altered to give us a skeleton crew at best. The only time we're well staffed is if the floor is full. If we are at 75% capacity, we are struggling to do our best. Just because there are fewer patients DEFINITELY doesn't mean their acuity is less. Nurses, PCAs, even doctors, are leaving left and right. The last few weeks it has been basically expected that we will need to mandate at least one staff member per shift, we've lost so many people. On top of this, we are told we need to do BETTER. We need better HCAHP scores, answer call lights quicker, JC is coming, do better! But here is less staff....They are running this once great place into the ground.
