Pros

- The bar is high, you'll be working with a lot of great people. Every organisation has a few bad apples, but at Amazon, I found there was very few (at least within Brisbane, Australia). - You'll learn a lot, from a lot of experience people. When you do have questions, you'll also have access to someone with deep expertise that can assist or answer them. - The Leadership Principles, although they may seem cult like at first are part of what makes Amazon tick. Senior Leadership invests heavily in these and they become a very useful framework for decision making both within Amazon and outside of it.

Cons

- Almost all teams have an on-call roster, this may involve getting paged at 3 AM... - It can feel isolating from the real world, the way Amazon does things is different to other companies. You'll rarely use Stack Overflow, Google, or public tooling - instead, you'll most often use an internal Amazon clone.

Pros

Really smart people, a lot of opportunity for growth, always encouraged to be innovative, think big, and create something new. Competitive salary and benefits with other major tech companies. 100% self motivating work environment. No dress code and 4 legged friends are welcome.

Cons

You have to be self motivated. NO ONE will hold your hand and tell you that you're doing a great job. If you need constant affirmations from management, this company isn't for you.
