Pros

Salary is good for the Learning Design field.

Cons

I was training my unskilled replacements from their lower cost center countries while I was there. They hired in many US remote workers, and then a few months later did Return to Office- RTO, and none of the skilled designers they hired could be promoted, become managers, or move to another team and still stay remote, so we were all just stuck. I left a remote first company for this job and then got bait switched. They “train” internal staff with no LXD experience or formal education from within Amazon in a 10-week program and give them the same level and an LXD title as the designers with advanced graduate degrees and decades of work experience. Then those staff are able to be promoted and become Managers because they live close to an office. Return to Work policies are driving out skilled designers and they will be left with unskilled labor from their low cost countries, and their product, training, and culture is suffering because of it. It’s completely toxic and there is NO innovation happening in these teams. “Hire and Develop the Best” Leadership Principle should be “Hire and develop the cheapest labor we can find”.

Pros

Really smart people, a lot of opportunity for growth, always encouraged to be innovative, think big, and create something new. Competitive salary and benefits with other major tech companies. 100% self motivating work environment. No dress code and 4 legged friends are welcome.

Cons

You have to be self motivated. NO ONE will hold your hand and tell you that you're doing a great job. If you need constant affirmations from management, this company isn't for you.
