Pros

Work life balance, flexible working

Cons

Terrible tech leadership, zero ownership, tech is very disconnected from the business - you build things without knowing the 'why'. The business is slow moving and there are limited opportunities to progress. Uncompetitive salary.

Pros

Seemed like a positive environment at first.

Cons

Never a clear direction and constant restructuring. Internal competitiveness and back stabbing is the norm. Really quite toxic.

We thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. Sorry that your 5 to 7 years’ experience at Elsevier did not match our intention of being known as a great place to work. It's unfortunate that you could not partake in our continued joint efforts to create a comfortable, transparent and collaborative environment for all our employees when you were at Elsevier. As we grow from strength to strength as an organisation, we are united in recognising the important role all our employees play. We value and consider all feedback and we'll continue to find ways to improve as an organization. If you are open to connect, feel free to reach out to us at elseviergdrev@elsevier.com

Mismanaged company

Pros

Standard benefits by Dutch labour law and 13th month. Developers are very well paid, even the under average ones.

Cons

Undue importance on academic qualifications, skills and corporate experience not valued. People from academia with no idea of product development spend years trying to develop a product causing the company to 'miss the train' .
