Pros

The team is really great to work with. Friendly environment and a relaxed attitude.

Cons

Pay is average. Every year the company seems to revamp and change employees and management. Every January it feels like a new company, for better or for worse. I don't see much promotion of internal staff. There is some but they seem to prefer to hire externally rather then hiring from within. The product teams are disconnected and the information flow within the company is broken. When sales are down, management gets a little frantic and hokey games to try to increase sales competition that takes up more time than being beneficial.

Pros

Most regular employees are professional, educated and nice people. Multicultural environment and opportunities for travel. Flexible work schedule is a big plus. Benefits package is decent but not exceptional.

Cons

Pay is average. Matrix management is rather dysfunctional.

Pros

They are generous with vacation time. You receive 3 weeks of vacation at the end of two years of work. you also get an additional three days of personal time and two weeks of sick time. There is also an opportunity to volunteer two days out of the year.

Cons

Elsevier currently does not provide much job security. They are cutting jobs and sending them overseas. They also try to save money by not allowing managers to fill open positions and instead have the existing employees fill the gaps. There is not much opportunity for upward mobility, it is common for employees to be stuck in the same position for many years.
