      In general professionalism is really high, probably due to the fact most people have a PhD and/or come from academia.

      Cons

      Be proactive and seek feedback or surprises may await you when it is too late.

      Pros

      Benefits with well rounded package including 11 Holidays, 3 Personal and Time off to Volunteer. Reasonable employee only cost health insurance plan.

      Cons

      Very large global management team (which seems to the average worker) to only have interest in their own internal position movement. There is no loyalty to the average employee who has labored hard for the success of the company.

      Publishing Company that is clueless about running a tech company

      Pros

      - Company is so big that local satellite offices are left relatively alone. If you like the employees you see every day, you can almost forget that you work for a global corporation.

      Cons

      - Company Super PAC periodically spams employees asking for money. - Elsevier is extremely slow to replace employees who have left. If someone leaves in the middle of the year, you've basically got to wait until the next fiscal year to get approval to hire a new one. - Hiring process is slow; it's very difficult to acquire talent--by the time all the paperwork is done and all the signatures have been collected, your candidate has found another job. - No clear career path.
