Pros

Elsevier produces high quality solutions for its customers. Lots of great people amongst the rank & file. Senior Leadership is another story altogether.

Cons

See Title of this review. The result of micromanagement, cronyism, incompetence, dishonesty and lack of respect for people. I understand the SVP of Sales was replaced a few months ago. That is a start. It will take time and the right leadership to undue all that was destroyed over 3 years to create an environment of mutual trust/respect for people that was once the true hallmark of a successful RELX Group company.

Pros

Excellent content, trusted brand, and experienced editorial staff.

Cons

Much of Upper Management is out of touch with their employees, and customer markets. They want to apply business rules from their MBAs, without deep knowledge of variances need: i.e. access models, pricing, and contracts, to all of the global customer markets. In final few years, I saw incompetence and underperformance, as well as disrespect, tolerated. Customer experience and satisfaction are no longer high priority.

Pros

Market Leader in industry Modern infrastructure in industry

Cons

Promotions given to management's pets and not those who could work. Letting go of too many knowledgeable staffs, while bringing in incapable people (Far too) frequent restructuring which brings instability. Puts work life balance on the lips but nothing like this in reality.
