Pros

Elsevier is a great place to work if you want a sustainable work-life balance, collaborative co-workers, and low stress.

Cons

Elsevier is maybe not the best place to work early career if you're looking for challenge and growth potential. The lower average pay combined with limited engineering challenge make it a worse place to work early career, whereas stability make it a great place to work mid and late career if you want low stress.
