Good and Bad

Pros

Staff are generally friendly and approachable, any micro-management is rare, and the office has a more relaxed atmosphere. Some benefits available. Opportunities to move between departments and offices are plentiful.

Cons

Relaxed attitude above tends to seep into areas where it shouldn't such as decision making. A lot of employees feel under-rewarded and overworked, often having to make up slack for less experienced (but higher paid) staff. Turnover is high in certain departments so workloads can be a bit much due to understaffing. Communication from above is limited, and the spread of knowledge to staff is dependent on how proactive the managers are, as is support for external training/development. The current reorganisation has left a lot of uncertainty around the business and had led to lower morale.

I love Ecova!

Pros

It's been over a year now and Ecova is shining bright still. I can speak for the utility side in Portland and say that from the management level down there are ample opportunities and flexibility for you to grow. The tools and support are available as well. -matching Roth 401k! -in house coffee from local roasters! -Bonus/merit program based on company profitability -Excellent work life balance -ability to work from home occasionally -team events and happy hours draw teams closer -opportunities with different projects/clients The pay isn't bad, it's not the best either. It's up to you what is important but I feel like Ecova will support you and train you and if you work hard, the pay will follow.

Cons

-Since Engie acquired Ecova there has been some shifting and restructuring but with minimal layoffs. Still early to see full effects.
