Pros

The company is well-regarded in the energy trading sector and offers valuable exposure to international commodity markets.

Cons

However, the leadership environment can be highly centralised, with decision-making concentrated at the top. Success often depends less on capability and more on maintaining close alignment with prevailing preferences. Shifts in priorities can occur without clear explanation, and there is a tendency for certain individuals to receive disproportionate opportunities or leeway. The management approach is notably risk-averse, prioritising the avoidance of mistakes over pursuing growth initiatives, which can occasionally result in missed opportunities or slower progress in market development.

Constant Reorganization

Pros

Knowledgeable colleagues aligned on mission to decarbonize.

Cons

Continuous reorganization due to shifting goals, shifting company structures, shifting ideas as to how to most efficiently move forward as a company. No true clarity as to how anything will be done. No signs of wanting to invest in employees during transition periods (i.e., very comfortable with rounds of layoffs and then hiring vs placing current well-performing folks in different roles when making one of their many reorg decisions). I've never seen anything quite like it in my 20 years of working in corporate America. It was exhausting to witness and experience. A LOT of talk and very little meaningful action or clarity.
