Pros

Departments outside of the R.E.O. division are professional, diverse and promote honesty & integrity.

Cons

Some employees within the R.E.O. unit act with a "mean girl gang mentality." Some are passive-aggressive. If you are intelligent, assertive, don't silently suffer foolish and unprofessional behavior invariably one is alienated by some team members and a campaign of malicious gossip is employed. If you do not fit into "a comfortable stereotype of an African-American woman" to placate some of the troublemakers' insecurities, you are sabotaged. Essentially, a festering of negativity and hood mentality prevails as the "norm". I have observed unsuspecting good employees become the victims of this ignorant gang mentality.

Pros

Work life balance is great, even on a team that deals with on-call schedules People and teams are generally very helpful Good, clear documentation from a technical standpoint Some very smart people

Cons

Gone in a snap. Layoffs were given out of nowhere, and even after being told continuously for months to not worry, money was fine, and even being told 2 days before by manager that I was doing great, was let go in a cold cut way. A single teams meeting with manager, their boss, and HR. You’ll lose access to everything today so take care of what you need. At least there’s severance I suppose. It’s not very clear how exactly individual contributions help sustainability, which is the core mission of the company. No one ever seems to have an answer as to why upper management is doing what they’re doing. Even direct managers and directors are being kept in the dark until some action needs to be completed. Lower bonus payout because of unknown reasons even though high marks are given. Also seems like managers are told to give lower marks for that factor. Lots of work, and not enough people.

Pros

Sustainability, and being part of a very large company, Engie Group. Myriad of products and services decent of not top of the line benefits.

Cons

Leadership has consistently been a challenge in this organization. Direction changes, lack of consistency and zero coaching except from lowest level line managers. Executives are unable to provide a vision to functional teams, then struggle to understand work chosen to be completed by those given the decisions to make strategy choices. Consistent trend to not listen to employees not in the executive committee or immediately below.
