Regional and national leadership is a joke. They manage out of fear and panic instead of capitalizing on market opportunities. The first goal of upper mgt is to maximize regional partners and national partners unit allocation. The second goal is keep a large layer of middle management and administrative (HUNC's, High Unit No Client) partners on board. Overall, the regional and national partners will ask the working stiffs (partners, directors, sr mgrs, etc..) in the local offices to take no pay raise and no bonus (effectively pay cut) but will themselves suffer no economic detriment. In fact, many make more in down times due to lower cost structure (ie no spending and no salaries). The next con is a lack of honesty and clarity in the promotion cycle. Deloitte loves the old carrot and whip system. Incredibly outdated. The new "mass career customization" is laughable and basically uses a lattice instead of a ladder which means there are more reasons NOT to promote you!
