Pros

If you do the basics you can keep off most radars and keep management happy for the most part. Doing these basics used to result in hitting your quotas as well!

Cons

Lies: We were told backlog wasn’t taken into consideration when quotas were issued. Turns out they were. Been remote since Covid. Was told we’d never go back. Been over 3 years and even CEO said it’s permanent. People made life choices based on this! Now, we must return. Pretty normal. Promotions: You can do everything you are told to do and they still won’t promote you. This is 100% a lack of good leadership. People get promoted based on “who you know” not “what you do”. Quotas: These have always been high, but the company literally made quotas this year so high because the paid out too much last year. That’s not ok! In the last 3 years quotas have quadrupled! After 14 consecutive “record breaking” quarters, we are are now “paying back” the company?!?!

Too big a company

Pros

The benefits are indeed top notch and the amount of paid time off available does add up considerably (vacation, holidays, personal days, Christmas shutdown week). Salaries from the L-EMC side tend to be 30% higher than same-titled folks on the L-Dell side.

Cons

The company has become much too big and there is a tremendous disconnect between the executive leadership and the front line workers. Middle management comes from two legacy organizations who are as different as can be. Legacy Dell focuses on how to cut costs. Legacy EMC focuses on their own old ways and keeps the clique mentality alive. As a result, decisions are slow to be implemented and the level of politics has steadily increased. There are no career paths available! There is lots of mention about diversity and inclusion but that only applies to the lower levels of the company, once it gets into management, it is basically nonexistent. Also, there are recurring layoffs of senior resources whose salaries are considered too high (if you are L-EMC, then consider your days numbered unless you are low cost.)

Pros

Dell Technologies and the Dell EMC division combine a well known consumer brand with a well regarded enterprise storage company. Michael Dell oversees the new company out of Austin Texas.

Cons

Salaries frozen for FY2017, EMC employees lose bonuses, stock grants, ESPP, employees with 5-10 years of tenure lose one week of vacation. Layoffs are rampant and haphazard.
