Pros

It's good when things are going well. Opportunities for development and growth (if you are in the right department)

Cons

When there is a RIF (like right now) there is zero communication on what is happening, when it will be complete, etc. Employees speculate if the are going to let go and becomes a toxic work culture. People are getting let go in areas where external jobs are being posted showing that internal employees are not valued.

Pros

Work life balance Median salaries Renovated office spaces Travel opportunities for the right roles Benefited lots of employees who began here and jumped companies 2-5 years into their time here.

Cons

Layoffs. I have survived 3 in the 8 years I worked here. Vacation: Start you off with 10 days and give you 15 in 5 years, this is not a progressive company. Harder(not impossible) to find meaningful work or career growth unless you live in columbus, High deductible health care plan compared to other companies in the area. Generally not cutting edge/innovative with their operations, midwest pace of life and work culture.

Pros

The people.. This is the key positive of the company and the only reason I lasted as long as I did.. The people you work with are just like a family in many instances, but that is changing quickly. The work is great for those who want to start out in their career and be challenged from day one.. Extreme focus on social issues.

Cons

Talk to all the long term employees and you will see that Cummins does not have leadership. They have management. Significant headcount reductions every three-four years, since the 1990's. Once the longer termed employees are removed in this cycle, there is a significant hiring push for less expensive hires within six months, almost each time. Just look at the social media sites today. 8-10% professional headcount reduction in process, while you see individuals announcing their recently accepted job offer to start in 2020.. When will the company realize the impact they are making on the lives of their people and the company? The cycle is clear, do something about it and stop the major hiring pushing and then major firing push that is easily seen..
