Toxic and Hostile

Pros

Great product, it really is a best-breed solution. It’s great seeing customers get excited when you show them the dashboard and capabilities for the first time. It makes selling easier and I will only sell something I believe in. With uncapped commission there is opportunity to make a lot of money.

Cons

It is an extremely toxic and hostile work environment. I would not take a job in sales here unless you absolutely need to. Micromanagement, zero trust and disrespectful/degrading comments are common place throughout leadership. A few examples: If I did not respond to a slack message from my manager within 3 minutes (no exaggeration, this was the expectation set) then I would immediately receive a phone call from him and I’d be in “trouble”. Outside of adding an extreme amount of stress to my life this also affected multiple customer calls and deals as the same expectation was set during customer facing meetings. Secondly, my manager would go through my minutes on outreach and calendar and call in to question any timeframes longer than 5 minutes. If I did not have a valid reason for each and every single 5 minute timeframe then I’d again get hit with extremely disrespectful comments. These comments would be about my ambition, intelligence and career choice. Last example, when I first started I took a 30 minute lunch break as that was common at my previous company. When I casually brought up my lunch break to my manager he then went on to say “your heart is clearly not in this” and that “I don’t have what it takes”. If you like lunch this job is not for you. Additionally, I got in serious hot water for not answering a work call at 7pm when I was at dinner with some friends. All in all it’s a very toxic and hostile work environment. The turn over rate is EXTREMELY high for this role. I would highly recommend not taking this job unless desperate.

AVOID FOR SALES

Pros

Pros: - Great product - Great benefits - Motivated colleagues - Snacks

Cons

Cons: - The leadership: The leadership in the Austin office is at best incompetent and at worst a liability. Internal promotions are also internally blocked, so good luck at rising through the ranks! - Culture: The culture in the Austin office is toxic beyond belief. From sexist employees to managers who think it’s ok to harass their employees, the culture of the Austin office just keeps being chiseled away. - No work/life balance: “Unlimited PTO”. Yeah, you have unlimited PTO but good luck taking it. You’re also not allowed to take a vacation during 4 months throughout the year, including July ( bye-bye summer family vacations). Additionally, you are expected to be always working, even after the clock stops at 5. You’ll get e-mails on the lucky day you get PTO with “urgent requests” and get chastised if you don’t respond. - Stress: Poor leadership has led to an office where stress drips down the walls. Incompetent management has lead to reps being weary of letting superiors on their calls for fear of losing the deals. No one leaves the office happy at the end of the day.

Pros

Benefits are ok, but nowhere near the "startup" levels that they talk about. A lot of the employees are really good and are there to do a good job.

Cons

Upper management just can't figure out where they want to be in the computer security industry. They talk about how AV is dead, but now they want to be an AV provider. Just like other wannabe startups, the CEO needs to keep his mouth shut
