Pros

Pay and benefits are OK. Depending upon your department or manager, the people can be fantastic and work-life balance can also be great. Many managers have liberal work-at-home policies and allow for very flexible working hours for the office.

Cons

HR and much/most of the senior leadership does not respond to or even care about sexual harassment and diversity and inclusion. It is by and large a white male's club with white females coming in 2nd. The ARRIS Women's Business Network (AWBN) has become a shell organization. With the exception of Santa Clara, the company has no R&D offices in any metro core. They are all well outside the city, beyond most suburbs. I understand the desire to save costs, but it makes it very difficult to recruit and retain talent.

Acquisition-related cultural changes put a good company at risk

Pros

Corporate-level behaviors are consistent with strongly reinforced core values of ethics and quality. The C*O leaders have an excellent history of ethical and effective decisions, leading to an economically stable corporation. Competitive bonus, salary and benefits for experienced engineering staff. Good work-life balance.

Cons

Negative trajectory of cultural change - Executives' widespread choice of legacy TE BNS leaders over legacy CommScope leaders is leading to more political, command-and-control-style management and processes.

Pros

It's the paycheck and 401K.

Cons

Lots of bureaucracy Lots of discrimination against people not part of management Culture and processes are stuck like it's 1984 (come on, it's 2019!)
